Embroidery Exhibition

On March 17, in Columbus, GA, Jinny Reed displayed her cross-stitching to help fundraise for the Sally Demuth Memorial Scholarship.  It was a hit!  We raised over $1000!  Thanks for everyone who helped out!  Please check out the photo section to see pictures for the event!

Since the event fell exactly one year to the day my mom passed away, there was an area at the exhibit that honored her.  I think a lot of people were also inspired by the exhibit to finish their own projects!

When my mom passed away from ovarian cancer, it was horrible to see her in so much pain.  Seeing her in such a weaken state was a bit shocking.  Although those were some of the last images I have of her in my memory, I think it is important to remember that cancer was not something that defined her.  She touched many people's lives through her work and other activities she was involved in.  At her funeral, it was pretty much standing room only because of how many people came to honor her memory.

This exhibit was a great way to honor my mother as well as show off all the work my grandma has completed.  (She is really talented!)  Again, thanks to everyone who attends and contributed!  It was such a wonderful event!

It was wonderful! You would be so proud of your grandma talking to everyone about her work. It was a great way to raise money. I watched mom feel better and better about herself every time she talked to someone. We were even talking about the fundraiser talking about Sally, of course I would start to cry and mom would kick in doing the talking. I was so proud of her. Natalie typed up a page about Sally, we are going to have to get a copy of that. We thought of the Demuths that day and wished they were with us. Everyone helped out with the fundraiser, it was great. We are going to have to do one in Glouchester.
